By downloading or using 8 Pillars (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. License to use the App

We grant you a personal, limited, non‑exclusive, non‑transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple devices you own or control, for your personal, non‑commercial use, subject to these Terms and the Apple Media Services / App Store Terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse‑engineer, resell, or redistribute the App except as permitted by law.

2. Not medical, health, or professional advice

8 Pillars is a personal wellness and self‑reflection tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical, mental‑health, financial, legal, or other professional advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Content, scores, summaries, and insights the App produces are for general informational and self‑reflection purposes only.

  • Always consult a qualified professional (e.g. a physician or licensed clinician) for medical or mental‑health concerns. Never disregard or delay professional advice because of something in the App.
  • In an emergency, call your local emergency number. The App is not designed for emergencies or crisis support.
  • Any health metrics shown (including data from Apple Health) are for your personal awareness and are not a clinical assessment.

3. AI‑generated content

The App uses on‑device artificial intelligence to summarize your entries and generate insights. AI output:

  • may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading, and should not be relied upon as fact or as professional advice;
  • is generated from the information you provide and the limitations of on‑device models;
  • should be reviewed and edited by you before you act on or save it.

You are responsible for how you use AI‑generated content.

4. Your content and data

You own the content you create in the App ("Your Content"). Your Content is stored on your device (and, for shared features, in your iCloud account). We do not receive, access, or store Your Content on our own servers. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups (e.g. via your device or iCloud backups), and for the accuracy and legality of Your Content. See our Privacy Policy for how data is handled.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the App to:

  • violate any law or the rights of others;
  • attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or compromise the App's integrity or security;
  • reverse‑engineer or extract source code except where permitted by law.

6. Third‑party services

The App relies on Apple platform services, including iOS/iPadOS/macOS, iCloud, HealthKit, on-device Apple Intelligence, and on-device Speech transcription. We are not responsible for those services, their availability, or their terms. Your use of Apple services is governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy. This build contains no third-party SDK dependencies.

7. Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any feature at any time. Some features (e.g. AI features) depend on device capability, operating‑ system version, network availability, and Apple service availability, and may not be available on all devices.

8. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON‑INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR‑FREE, OR THAT ANY OUTPUT (INCLUDING AI OUTPUT) WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, Musannif Zahir WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR USD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Musannif Zahir from claims arising out of your misuse of the App or violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

11. Termination

These Terms apply while you use the App. You may stop using the App and delete it at any time. We may suspend or terminate your license if you materially breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (e.g. 2, 3, 8, 9, 10) survive termination.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The updated version will be posted here with a new "Effective date." Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [STATE/COUNTRY], without regard to conflict‑of‑laws rules. [Optionally specify venue/dispute‑resolution.] Nothing in these Terms limits any non‑waivable consumer rights you have under the law of your country of residence.

14. Apple‑required terms

To the extent the App provides any warranty, Apple is not responsible for it; for any failure to conform to a warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund (if applicable). Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App.
